Mike Calascibetta

Originally from Chicago, Michael moved to Burbank, California as a child and grew up in the Hollywood movie industry and the California beach scene in the 60's. He attended Otis Art Center briefly, but is primarily self- taught. He has painted and exhibited on and off his entire life. In 2007, he began a fulltime career as a painter. He has always painted in traditional media, primarily in watercolor but upon seeing some of the new digital work, he began experimenting with digital creation in the late nineties. Today he paints using traditional wet watercolors with digital photographs. He then blends the two media's with digitally painted layers and this allows Michael to create a unique look that is impossible to achieve with traditional watercolors alone. Today he continues to expand his explorations of mixed media in an attempt to capture the light and color of traditional watercolors.
